I recently checked out LaoJie Hotpot, a chain restaurant that started in Brooklyn and now has three locations in NY. I visited the one on 86th street which is less crowded compared to the other two locations. I went for lunch but noticed that as the evening progresses, the music gets louder. They’re open till 12:30 AM, so it’s a great spot for a relaxed lunch, a lively dinner, or even a late-night hangout. They have karaoke in the main room as well as private rooms, so it’s perfect for any occasion.
The all-you-can-eat option is around $30, and for the BBQ option, it’s around $40, which is quite reasonable. The plates are small, but it allows you to try more dishes from their extensive menu. The quality of the meats was fresh, and they have some unique options like pork liver, crab, fish, and large clams. They also have a sauce bar with a variety of options to customize your dipping sauce. The selection of vegetables, meat, and seafood was impressive. The soup bases were super tasty and unique. I personally enjoyed the bone cylinder soup base, and the spicy soup base was also a hit. The service was excellent, and the staff was always attentive and quick to refill the soup bases.
To end the meal, they surprise you with the most amazing mango pudding, which is a must-try. Overall, I highly recommend LaoJie Hotpot for a fun and delicious dining experience.
